Umpires
Umpires are an intricate and much appreciated part of the PGSA softball league. If you would like more information about Umpiring, please contact us.
Time Sheet Must be Approved By Umpire In Chief
Due to the small pool of umpires in our community PGSA has decided to take a different approach to creating a regular supply of umpires who are dedicated to making sure we maintain a quality experience for our girls.
This is a club where we all participate and work together and as family gets involved the girls get a greater appreciation for the game knowing their parents and loved ones are having fun too.
Basically, we are sharing the load and requiring a a few parents from each team to attend umpire training and cover a couple of games during the season outside of their child's division. We would also like to start providing umpires for T-ball games which has not been done in the past. This will create a pool of volunteer umpires for the T-ball, 8U, and 10U divisions.
There is also an opportunity for younger umpires to get some experience and learn another aspect of the game. Youth umpires are aloud to umpire games if they are at least two years older than the division they wish to umpire in. Parents can choose to go to umpire training with their daughter and learn at the same time.
The 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U divisions will continue to be paid umpires who are trained and meet league age requirements.
