Winterball FAQ

Winterball Q&A
Applications are accepted for Winter ball towards the end of the spring season preferably by closing ceremonies.

Q. What's the difference between spring ball and winter ball?
A. Spring ball is the main focus of our league. It provides ALL girls a chance to learn and play softball. Spring Ball games are amongst other teams within our own league and other close by Norcal leagues in an attempt to keep games as close to home as possible, i.e. Shingle Springs and George Town. Winter ball games are played mainly against other teams within NorCal. They are more completive and include travel to other Norcal leagues, i.e. Woodland, Davis & Sacramento.

Q. Can I start my own winter ball team?
A. Yes, contact PGSA's Vice President and let them know you want to form a winter ball team. They will give you fill a team from the list of girls wanting to play (i.e. received applications).

Q. When are winter ball games played?
A. 16U teams play double headers on Saturdays, start time 1:00
8U,10U & 12U play Sunday double headers, start time 1:00.

Q. How do I get on a winter ball team as a player?
A. When a coach/manager steps up and decides to form a winter ball team they are allowed to choose which players will be on their team. The player applications are used to create a list of players wanting to play. If a manager needs a few more players to complete their roster, they look through the applications to find an available player.

Q. I sent in an application form, how will I know if I get on a team?
A. If a manager selects you from the list of applications, they should contact you to confirm your commitment to winter ball and to their team. Managers need to turn in their preliminary roster to PGSA by Mid July so you will have hopefully been contacted by then. Rosters aren't due to NorCal until the first part of August.

Q. I sent in my registration fee with my application, what's happening to my money?
A. We are holding all checks until we get valid rosters from each manager. Only then will we deposit those checks for players on a roster. If you did not get on a team, but you sent in money, you will receive a refund

Q. My manager says I'm on his team but I didn't fill out an application, do I need to?
A. Yes, PGSA needs this for their records. Please mail it ASAP.
